EXCHANGE: Piracy

Many blockbusters these days face huge issues with piracy as people will happily illegally watch movies online or on pirated DVD instead of paying to go to see it in the cinema or on DVD. There are hundreds of illegal movie websites that show new films and blockbusters. For example:

ThePirateBay.org offers movies, music, games and software for free online. Twilight saga Eclipse is just one of the many films offered on this website and also ‘The unofficial twilight saga game’. This website boasts about being pirated and unofficial in the websites’ name ‘piratebay’. Although this may help to advertise the film it doesn’t help with the profit the film makes as it is free to watch the movie online instead of the public paying to go see it in the cinema.

www.alluc.org also offer twilight saga eclipse online for download for free. The list of pirated websites would be endless and is a growing problem for filmmakers.

The well-known video based website YouTube also allows the public to view the film without having to pay. Even thought the quality is evidently poor on these pirated versions, people are still prepared to compromise for the price they would have to pay to see it in the cinema or on DVD.

The twilight saga Eclipse – online anti-piracy campaign

   < This is the company that has the authority to copyright a product. The Anti-piracy campaign for Eclipse was managed by this company  and started 12th March 2010, 3 months before the release of the film. This campaign puts a law on internet copyright so if a website found with a pirated copy of the film, the film managements can take legal action against them. 

This is the official statement of copyright enforcement that is displayed online so the public can see that Eclipse has had internet copyright enforced.
